WHAT IS MEANT BY COACHING?

Literally, accompanying - revealing accompaniment.

APOLINE's presentation mentions the famous 'Know yourself', referring to maïeutics and thus to Socrate which implies that the concept is not as new as it is sometimes asserted. It therefore has a philosophical approach to management.

It corresponds to a progressive, interactive and non mechanical management style.

We illustrate it also by an expression, even a motto: to act or to be acted upon.

Coaching is different from consulting in that its solutions are 'internal' and not 'external' (produced by the consultant). Change first comes from within. It is a process which goes from the inside ('inner') out integrating both emotional and spiritual considerations (Emotional and spiritual intelligence).

Coaching gives the necessary means to project oneself directly in the future.

Coaching is not restricted here to tools. NLP and Transaction Analysis for instance. Coaching goes beyond tools otherwise it is not coaching.

It allows, among other things, to balance the requirements of reflection and the pressures from the environment, to avoid confusion between speed and precipitation.

 

IT APPLIES TO DIFFERENT LEVELS AND FIELDS

It better ensures discretion and confidentiality

It can be :       Listening (Emotional dimension)

                           Operational (Problem Solving)

                Transformational (Surpassing)

                            It deals with both:    The Organization on an individual and/or collective basis

                                     The Individual per se (Individual or couple Entity)

Within the organization, it is mainly carried out when facing important changes: 'Mergers & acquisitions - LBO - promotion - specific strategic project - constituting or consolidating teams … (team cooperation) - acculturation - crisis … To actually be more efficient it is intelligent to use it in anticipation.
